Barcelona Forward Winger might snub Stamford Bridge for Old Trafford

Latest transfer news and rumours

Recent articles suggest that Manchester United will fight Chelsea in order to secure the signature of Barcelona Forward, Pedro Rodriguez. United, who have offloaded two of their major strikers this season, are in need of reloading their artillery. With this in mind, there are several trustable reports indicating a move for signing Pedro from Barcelona, who has been overshadowed by the trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.

It was earlier speculated that Jose Mourinho, with the possible leaving of Remy, would like to add Pedro to his forward line but with the recent developments, the tide might have turned in to United’s favour. Barcelona’s manager Luis Enrique expressed his desire of retaining the forward back but will not be a roadblock if the player wants to leave himself. He was quoted as saying:

“I do not want him to go, but there is a clause and if he wants to go.

“I hope that the relationship will not break, but I respect his decision. [Marc] Bartra is in a similar situation and he stayed.”

But with losing out on playing time and spending more and more time on bench does not help the striker’s cause. This is the primary reason why he would like to make a move away from Nou Camp.

But Marca reports that an agreement between United and Barcelona is very close and its only a matter of time before it goes through. United will be launching a opening bid this week which should be in the range of £18-20m. Pedro and Barcelona, while extending his contract last summer, decided that if Barcelona were to receive and offer in excess of €25m, the negotiations can be looked at. This is exactly what United seems to be doing with the amount of offer they are speculated to be offering.

United have been linked with Paris Saint Germain for an away move for Angel DI Maria. However, United will only let Di Maria leave if he wants to and submits a transfer request. If this deal does go through United could do with another winger at the club and this is where Pedro will fit in just perfectly.

With the recent revelations by Mourinho about not signing Pedro only pushes the move for Old Trafford more towards conclusion. If it will happen soon enough for Pedro to be part of the tour remains to be soon though.
