Its official news from Board of Cricket Control in India as it has decided to continue ban on Ankeet Chavan, who was involved in match fixing scandal. The MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) managing committee has decided to lift the ban on SRK. Shahrukh Khan was not allowed to enter Wankhede stadium for 5 years after being involved in an altercation with security guard. It was a mutual decision by the panel members of MCA managing committee but the board has not found any mutual agreement to lift the ban on Ankeet Chavan. The managing committee has decided not to challenge ban imposed by BCCI. MCA is chaired by Mr. Sharad Pawar and they had taken final decision on SRK and Ankeet Chavan after a meeting conducted on Monday.
Chavan, S Sreesanth and Ajit Chandila are banned for not playing any form of cricket after being involved in spot fixing scandal in Indian Premier League 2012. After a long trial of three years, Delhi High court has released Ankeet Chavan and S Sreesanth and since then Chavan had been trying to seek clearance from BCCI and MCA to resume playing for his state. Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act had cleared Ankeet Chavan and later on requested BCCI and MCA to lift the ban on him.
Even after clearance from court and MCOCA, BCCI has not allowed any of the players to continue playing any form of cricket. They already sent an email to MCA to clear its stand. In its final stand, MCA has decided not to challenge decisions taken by BCCI against Ankeet Chavan. As per MCA officials, the latest requests have been clearly rejected and they have decided to not to lift ban on Ankeet Chavan in an official statement. Going by the decisions taken against Ankeet Chavan, it seems both S Sreesanth and Ajit Chandila will also face the same results.
“Ankeet Chavan, who has been cleared of MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) charges, requested us to convince BCCI to lift the ban on him. But the BCCI has already sent an email to MCA clearing the factual position on this issue. The MCA has therefore decided that it would not challenge BCCI’s action against Ankeet which was taken as per the disciplinary committee code and the anti-corruption code. So, we have rejected his request,” MCA vice-president Shelar said.
