BCCI to carry out 900 domestic games in 2015-16 season
In 2015, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will carry out over 900 games in the 6 month period beginning from October this year and finishing in the commencement of March next year, before the commencement of the ICC World T20 word cup.
This time, India will host the ICC World T20.
This will transform into 2100 playing days of the game, which comprises senior domestic contests, junior domestic competitions in addition to women’s cricket.
While talking about the domestic agenda, BCCI’s Honorary Secretary, Mr. Anurag Thakur stated, “In 2015 we have reconstituted the domestic program based on our global assurances and make sure that all our players will bag a chance to contribute and act upon, thereby bettering their possibilities of being picked out for our National groups.”
“We are releasing the timetable well beforehand with the intention that our state unions and groups have sufficient time to make arrangements and get ready for the approaching period. We do distinguish that domestic cricket is of supreme significance and BCCI will incessantly struggle to perk up the standards and guarantee that the foundations of Indian cricket are further reinforced,” Mr. Anurag Thakur added up.
Following are the key traits of the agenda for this year –
The schedule, during 2015 has been proposed considering the approaching Under 19 World Cup as well as the ICC World T20, and with a purpose to complete all the applicable domestic contests well before the selection for these contests, and the players will obtain a chance to take part and execute.
While making plans for the schedule, BCCI have observed that the games in the North get interrupted during the months of December-January and hence all zonal contests are being played in that phase.
A novel Under 19 Challenger contest has been brought in the Junior level during 2015 that will comprise 3 groups chosen by the Junior National Selectors and give yet another chance to all the players to execute, before the National group is chosen for the Under 19 World Cup, to be fulfilled in Bangladesh during the month of January.
Starting during 2015, the senior Men One day plus the T20 contests will be fulfilled on a Group basis (like Ranji Trophy) and not on Intra Zonal basis.
The Deodhar cup will also be played on a 3-group format.
Two novel contests are being set up for Women players from 2015, an Inter state and then Inter Zonal One day Under 23 contest and a 3-day Senior Women Inter Zonal competition that will offer additional chances to the female cricketers.
