Ervin Delivery let Zimbabwe take the centre stage

Zimbabwe defeated New Zealand at Harare, with a score of 303/3.This is the second win for Zimbabwe against New Zealand in an ODI. Both the wins that Zimbabwe achieved were in homeland. The victory was non dramatic as one run was needed for an over to spare.

Hamilton Masakadza started with a strong 84 runs, and C.R Ervine lifted Zimbabwe to win. He scored unbeaten 130 runs off 108 balls and put the seal on victory. New Zealand Batsman, Taylor was not out for 112 runs and Williamson chased 97 runs. The score 303 was not an easy chase but, Ervine made it look like cake walk.

There was a moment when New Zealand was at better stand and Zimbabwe needed 32 runs off 18 balls. Ervine hit fours and sixes and brought down the score to 16 runs off 12 balls. The steady base that Zimbabwe had was because of wonderful partnership between Masakadza and Chibhabha. The partnership was broken by McCullum. Team New Zealand hoped with Cessation of partnership they will have a break through; but it was a matter of time when Ervin came and sweeped 130.

“It has been a hard road for us, and it shows we are capable of winning games,” Zimbabwe captain Elton Chigumbura said.

“I thought 303 was enough. It wasn’t easy up front and I thought it was a good effort. They outplayed us in all areas though, so full credit to them,” he said.

Visitors were frustrated to see the home team scoring. Off spinner McCullum and Ish Sodhi gave a tuff wrangle to the two batsman. The increasing score forced Williamson to get back to Mitchel  McClenaghan, Grant Elliot and  Herny. McCullum took all the three wickets.

From team New Zealand, Williamson had a slow start but picked he picked up the pace. It was Williamsons fiftieth above fifty score. But with three runs short of a century, he missed out on his eighth hundred

Williamson and Taylor have an average of 60.91 with 2193 aggregate runs, but this did not seem to support them. The one who made it to glory was Team Zimbabwe.
