Everton vs Watford f.c. Premier League 2015 Predictions and Preview Who Will Win 08th Aug 2015
Watford is the third of the promoted teams that would go into the Premier League on the opening day of the new season. Watford stood first runners up in the championship, with second only to Bournemouth, the other promoted team.
Watford might have a easier draw the first week considering the form of the Everton side in the past few months. Everton has been beaten by a second tier team in Leeds United couple of nights back, while also being beaten by Arsenal in the Premier League Asia Trophy. With such a disastrous form, where they have only won one out of their past six matches, Watford might find themselves on the right side of the game.
However, the Everton do have the history on their side. Everton have beaten Watford in the past 9 encounters in all competitions and the last time they came across each other in the Premier League was on the opening day of 2006-07 season. Considering these statistics, Everton do stand a good chance to come up victorious.
But Quique Flores’s boys will try to make it as difficult as they can for the Roberto Martinez side as they will be looking to prove a point upon their re-entry in to the premier league. Even the Everton manager knew what playing against an enthusiastic promoted side might be like. He was quoted as saying
“As a newly-promoted side you expect a really good start to the season. You bring that winning mentality that you had in your promotion campaign up with you. We have seen season after season that promoted sides are very difficult to play against with their enthusiasm and their bravery in the early stages of the campaign. Watford will come with a belief that they can compete with anyone. They will be desperate to start enjoying the Premier League again after achieving promotion. But, in general, without knowing the small details, I think we know what type of team we can expect at the weekend and we’ll be ready for that.”
