The Hero Indian Football Premier League is a football tournament played by professional football playing teams which are from different parts of the country. This is one of the highly rated tournament played by 8 teams and the entire tournament starts in the month of September and ends in the month of December. This league was initiated in the year 2013 in an attempt to popularize the sport in the country. Another aim of the tournament is to make the Indian football team more popular in the world and to help it participate in the Football World Cup.

Most of the football tournaments around the world use the relegation and promotion system. However, this is where the Hero Indian Football Premier League is a bit different from the rest. This league uses a franchise system. 8 teams are created to participate in the tournament.

Atletico de Kolkata

This is a Kolkata based team with the primary playing stadium being Salt lake Stadium with a capacity of approximately 68000 spectators. The head coach of the team is Antonio Lopez Habas and the captain is Josemi. Some of the other players include Valdo, Arata Izumi, Borja Fernandez, Javi Lara, and Nadong Bhutia.

Chennaiyin

This is a Chennai based team with the head coach being Marco Materazzi. The team’s primary playing stadium is Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The captain of the team is yet to be announced and some of the players in the team include Raphael Augusto, Bruno Augusto Pelissari De Lima, and Dhanapal Ganesh.

Delhi Dynamos

This team from Delhi has the talented Roberto Carlos as its head coach and the team captain is yet to be announced. Some of the members of the team include Florent Malouda, Francis Fernandes, Gunashekar Vignesh, and Hans Mulder.

Goa

Mumbai City

Northeast United
