In the recent MCA meetings conducted on Sunday, Vice president Ashish Shelar announced to lift the long term ban on KKR owner and superstar Shahrukh Khan from entering into Wankhede Stadium. The other proposal to lift ban on tainted player, Ankeet Chavan has not being accepted by MCA. Ashish Shelar told the reporters after the meeting that it was a decided in the MCA meeting that ban on Shahrukh Khan could be lifted. Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan was banned from entering Wankhede Stadium after misbehaving with a security guard during a match. A ban was imposed for five years which would not have allowed Shahrukh to enter into MCA premises.
Today, in the MCA meeting, it was decided that the ban imposed on IPL’s Kolkata franchise owner Shah Rukh Khan should be lifted,” Shelar told reporters after the meeting here.
After a victory of his IPL franchisee KKR over Mumbai Indians, Shahrukh khan was involved in a serious altercation with security guard and officials and a ban was imposed by MCA committee on May 18th 2012. Shahrukh khan has rejected any claims of misbehaving with guards. He claimed that his reaction came out only when security guards manhandled children including his kids. Many sources in MCA also indicated that the Shahrukh khan insisted Sharad Pawar to revoke the ban, after which MCA managing committee consented on removing the ban imposed on him.
On the other hand, MCA has not challenged BCCI ban on Ankeet chavan, who was involved in match fixing controversy but was cleared from any criminal charges by Delhi High court in July. It seems that MCA will not stand by the player who had faced corruption charges. Both AnkeetChavan and S Sreesanth were released of criminal charges in spot fixing scandal during IPL 2012.Earlier BCCI had decided to not lift ban from S Sreesanth and Ankeetchanvan from playing any form of cricket on BCCI grounds or matches. It was a unanimous decision taken by MCA officials to not to challenge any decision taken by BCCI.
“Ankeet Chavan, who has been cleared of MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) charges, requested us to convince BCCI to lift the ban on him. But the BCCI has already sent a mail to MCA clearing the factual position on this issue,” Shelar said.
