New dates confirmed for Pakistan series confirmed by Zimbabwe

It has been confirmed that Pakistan team will be going on a tour to Zimbabwe from September 24 to October 5. During this tenure three t20 matches and three ODI shall be held within the team. Initially the tour was planned from August 17 to September 7; however it was put on hold because of unwillingness of Pakistan to risk their qualification for 2017 champions trophy.

As per the schedule, the twenty20 matches will be played during the month of September, and thereafter the ODIs in the first week of October. Right now eighth  position is bagged by Pakistan in ODI ranking whereas West Indies is at the ninth position, thus Pakistan is not going to have any impact on their position with this Zimbabwe series.

Manase added that board will keep on working to make sure that tour is planned properly. He also mentioned that one home series with West Indies might also take place during the free time in August in Pakistan.

“We have dealt with the tour outline with my PCB counterpart Shahryar Khan. The management of our respective boards will now continue to fine-tune the tour schedule,” Manase stated, before adding that he was also in talks with the WICB over a potential home series in opposition to West Indies, provided the free dates during August.

During the initial phase, Pakistan agreed to play limited over series in Zimbabwe to reciprocate their gratitude to Zimbabwe for their tour in Pakistan in May. It was first time in six years, Pakistan hosted International series in their home town. The confusion with series against Zimbabwe emerged when; ZC supported the idea of holding a tri nation series with West Indies. PCB was earlier resistant to be a part of the series because it might harm their qualification in the Championship.

Hence in order to play safely, the idea of pushing the ODIs was proposed by ZC which was instantly accepted by PCB clearly specifying their intention behind it. Resultantly the dates for ODI was postponed to October, wherein match between Pakistan and Zimbabwe will be held to decide the winner of ODI and T20 matches which will be held between the nations.
