Newcastle United vs Southampton Premier League 2015 Predictions and Preview Who Will Win 09th Aug 2015
Newcastle, only just managed to stay in the Premier League last season. With the relegation battle going down to the wire, Hull settling for a draw against Manchester United, meant that Newcastle scraped through, but only just. Post this; there has been an upheaval of sorts with the Steve Erickson taking up the position of the manager.
The new manager was given a decent amount to spend this transfer window and he did oblige. He brought in players like Georginio Wijnaldum in the midfield, AleksandarMitrovic up front and Chancel Mbemba to strengthen the back line. Another addition to the team has been the forward Ivan Toney, who came in for an undisclosed transfer fee from Northampton Town.
Newcastle’s problem last season was their back line which conceded 63 goals, second only Queens Park Rangers. The new manager will have to have his eyes on this if he wants to keep the side afloat this time too. Newcastle is not a side who will generally be fighting to stay out of the relegation zone, but would at least like to fight back to the top half of the table.
Southampton on the other side, has been a tea m, which impressed a lot of people and pundits. Ronald Koeman has been instrumental in getting the tactics and game play correct, almost each time. For a long duration in the last season, Southampton were occupying a top four spot, only to lose the momentum in the final few laps to lose out on the Champions League spot. Koeman would be raring to get his side back on track and would like to be as consistent as they were in the first half of the last season.
One of the strong areas for Southampton has been their defence and two of the key players are currently out of Southampton. Nathaniel Clyne, to Liverpool and Morgan Schneiderlin to Manchester United, meant that the defence might be a bit short on power. However, the manager has acquired quite a few interesting targets to maintain his side’s equilibrium. JordyClasie, Juanmi and Steven Caulke are the addition to his side with Caulke being added on loan.
Newcastle United vs Southampton Predictions Who Will Win
Southampton has been the side, to see more victories in the past couple of years, amongst the two. Newcastle has only one won encounter in 2013, which leave other three fixtures to be Southampton’s. Looking at the pre-season that Southampton had, more settled than Newcastle, we say Southampton will be on the winning side, taking the opening game 2-0.
