Paris Saint Germain superstar would not mind working with Louis Van Gaal

Latest transfer news and rumours

In what has been a week full of rumours, speculations and linkups, the latest one coming in is that of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. As soon as Louis van Gaal announced that there might be a “surprise” signing, the media outlets were abuzz with the reports of Thomas Mueller’s move from German to England. However these reports died down as soon as the Bayern manager denied them and re-iterated that Bayern would not sell another player to Manchester United, after Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Later on when Van Gaal clarified that the “surprise”, even though in the process, is not the one that media has been reporting about. This gave the sports journals and news reporters a free hand in linking any marquee player around Europe to United. One of the names in such link ups was that of Ibrahimovic.

This transfer is a difficult one to go through, if it is indeed on the horizon. Ibrahimovic and Van Gaal have said to have a difficult relation earlier and hence might not be a good pair to have in the same team.  However in a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, he was quoted saying as

“[Van Gaal] was a director in Ajax, and the way he is working is not the way I work At the end, I think he is professional and I am professional. Whoever I work with, I never had this kind of problems, because at the end I need to do my job, he needs to do his job.

But the striker also agreed to the fact that even though there would be tussles, he might enjoy them.

“And I think a lot of fights would happen, but that’s something I like.”

This has again put the media in to an overdrive linking the prolific goal scorer, who scored 30 goals in the last 35 matches, with United. However, he did mention about his willingness to play in the United States before he retires. He said while speaking to Yahoo Sports:

“I would like to play in the US, absolutely. I think (playing in MLS) would be an amazing experience. I see that soccer is growing a lot in the US. I was here 10 years ago and soccer was not on the level that it is today, but it’s growing.”

Ibrahimovic is in the last year of his contract and will be a free agent next year. But he still maintains that he is a P.S.G player, and is happily so, would still like to finish off his contract here. Will he do so or will he join United or may be another major club, is what only time can tell. Till then it will all be only speculations.
