Rape charges set up against Waikato player
Twenty three years old Scott Christopher Kuggelejin stood ashamed in the dock when he was accused of rape. He was brought to the Hamilton district court on the afternoon of Tuesday. Scott was represented by the lawyer Philip Morgan QC who is a top lawyer. He has been charged with two accuses. One is of sexual violation through rape and the other allegation is of an indecent assault. Two victims are involved in this process and they are the ones who have raised charges against the player. The incident of assault and rape supposedly took place in March and may of this year, 2015.
Scott who is a northern district player was shunned and shamed while he found standing the dock of the Hamilton court. When the media contacted the mother of Scott, she absolutely shirked off the allegations which have been put over by the victims and was stunned. She remarked that all the accusations have been put on his son are completely false and she totally denied them. Police did not bring all this to her son’s notice before Monday 8pm and she was totally stunned when she got to hear the news.
Scott has been playing for wellington for almost two seasons. He had later moved back to Hamilton in the year 2013. Scott has been born and brought up in Hamilton and he returned back to the same place after playing for consecutive two seasons. He has won many accolades for his outstanding contribution in the cricket field. He was awarded as the most outstanding player in local and domestic competitions and also took 58 wickets in the T-20 competition and hence, was named as the northern knight bowler of the year.
Morgan even requested that scoot’s passport should not be taken and surrendered because he is a budding artist and that way, he will not be able to go abroad and play and showcase his talents in cricket. A trial is not expected before some 12 or 18 months and if for that period, he will not be able to go overseas and play and it would be a blatant hit on his cricket career. Scott, when he left the court, did not respond to any media that was waiting outside the court for his remarks. He decided not to speak anything to the media and walked off the court without delivering any statement.
