Real Madrid to sign Kiko Casilla from Espanyol, David De Gea might stay another year at Manchester

Latest transfer news and rumours

The longest transfer saga of this summer seems to be ending to a conclusion with Real Madrid signing of Kiko Casilla. Casilla will be a backup for Madrid’s no. 1 Keylor Navas, who is currently out due to an injury.

This might be seen as a minor victory by Manchester United camp, as they could keep hold of their best player from last season. However, this might mean that De Gea will go for free next year, if he doesn’t sign a contract in the next 12 months that is.

Real Madrid, usually get these things done quickly; they are like a rich kid, who gets what he wants as soon as he the word drops off his mouth. However this time around United have given them a run for their money and would also think that they ended on the winning side. If De Gea doesn’t leave this summer, United will be in for a real title charge and would like to think of themselves as worthy challengers of Chelsea.

However, another outcome of this deal might be that Sergio Ramos stays at Madrid too. The player is in loggerheads with the Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, first for not renewing his contract with new terms and second for not giving him the respect that he deserves. Ramos still wants out however Perez and now, Rafael Benitez wants the defender to stay. But with this current development, he might have to stay at the club after all. This is such a domino effect with one thing leading to another, which leads to another.

There is however still a lot of time to go, till the transfer market ends and lot of things could go down. De Gea staying is still in no way a certainty and so is Ramos’s. He was selected the captain after Iker Casillas was sent to Porto and is currently with the team on their preseason tour.
