Sarfaraz Khan leaves Mumbai for Uttar Pradesh

The celebrated IPL player who impressed a number of people on the field during the 2015 IPL for his team Royal Challengers Bangalore would be leaving for Uttar Pradesh. This was confirmed by his father Naushad Khan who hails from Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. Mr Rajiv Shukla, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association secretary has already been approached by Khan’s father for the transfer.

Although the Mumbai Cricket Association’s joint secretary Dr P V Shetty tried to convince Khan not to leave but realised that Sarfaraz has already made up his mind for the transfer.

There had been disciplinary issues with Sarfaraz in the Under-19 knockout match where he made an obscene gesture from amongst the middle to the selectors which resulted in his removal from the list of probable for the zonal T20 matches and his match fees for the session 2014-15 was also withheld. Although later he offered an apology for the same.

Sarfaraz however confirmed that the disciplinary issue has got to do nothing with his decision which is completely his own. Sarfaraz and his father Naushad, both have thanked the Association in Mumbai for standing by him and for playing a key role in shaping his career.

Sarfaraz has been a gem of a player ever since his school days. He has created a good number of records in his school cricket and made his T20 and One-day debut for Mumbai in the year 2013-14 after performing great in the Under-19 World Cup held in February 2014. He earned the title of being the third highest run getter for India in the Under-19 cricket cup. He also played well in his maiden Ranji cup last season and the made into his maiden IPL season with the Royal Challengers Bangalore team. While he played for the IPL team he grew brightly as a batsman and scored 111 runs in 13 matches at an average of 27.75. His debutant batting and on field attempts proved that he has potential for a good career in cricket. His start with the IPL team gave him a good boost with his career.
