Pakistan thrashes Lanka with 135 runs Victory
The visiting Pakistan team had shown their fervour of sportsmanship as they defeated the Sri lankans in their own soil by a huge margin of 135 runs in the ODI series. This victory had given the Pakistan an edge with a lead of 2-1. This has rendered the Pakistan the distinction of winning the 400th international matches in Asia. They are now being placed at the second position after India (408) in achieving this fame. Both teams are playing an incredible series so far and it has been delight for cricket lovers and supporters. There were strong performances from Ahmed who scored a valuable 77 runs and Yasir Shah grabbed four wickets as Pakistan was able to beat Sri Lanka at their own home ground. It was a virtual thrash for the South Asian team in every respect of the term in the One Day International event conducted on 19 of July in Colombo at Premadasa Stadium.
Strong Performance from Pakistan Team
Pakistan made a huge score of 316 for the loss of four wickets after choosing to bat in the cricket match conducted as the day-night format. Ahmed scored 77 and Yasir Shah grabbed four wickets as Pakistan thrashed Sri Lanka by 135 runs in the exciting third one-day international in Colombo on Sunday. The Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir bowled beautifully to the Sri Lankan batsmen order as the Sri lankan team was bundled out for 181 in 41.1 overs. It was poor display of batting performance from Sri Lanka.
In return to the huge Pakistan score, the Sri lankans could not put a spirited fight as their wickets gone at the mind bogging bowling feat of the Pakistan performers. Lahiru Thirimanne, was the Sri lankan top scorer with 56, and opener Kusal Perera was another batsman with the second highest with 20. The Sri Lankan captain Angelo Mathews has this to say in this regard, “ I am heavily frustrated”. He, however, admitted that the Pakistan had put forth marvelous performance in bowling, batting and fielding for that matter. His assessment was that the quality of the pitch was some in the sort that helped the spinners in the second innings.In the recent ongoing series between Sri Lanka and Pak, Pakistan scored victory in the opening match in Dambulla. The second match however favoured the Sri Lanka in Pallekele as they were able to fight back with a good win. However, currently ranked 9th in ODI ranking, Pakistan will have to score a series victory to remain in the fight for a place in the eight-nation Champions Trophy in England in 2017.
The next in the series (fourth match) will be conducted here at the Premadasa Stadium on Wednesday. It would be exciting to see if Pakistan is able to secure their berth for Champions Trophy as Bangladesh has already sealed their spot for the event. Whatever would be result, one thing can be assured about that both teams would be looking for a great fight and cricket lovers can expect a great match on the cards.
