Sourav Ganguly, Thakur in BCCI India working group to study IPL verdict
Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly was, on July 20, declared as one of the 4 associates of BCCI’s committee set up in order to analyze the Justice R M Lodha group’s order on the IPL and present suggestions in a period of six weeks.
The group will be led by IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla and will boast of Treasurer Aniruddh Chaudhary and BCCI Secretary Anurag Thakur as its other affiliates.
BCCI’s legal consultant U N Banerjee will help the board.
Declaring the names of the board associates, IPL Chairman stated that the board will analyze the propositions of the Justice Lodha Committee statement and sketch out a guideline for IPL 9 that will have around 8 groups.
“The group will have 6 weeks’ time to revise the Lodha group report and will provide its suggestions after speaking to all the share holders,” Shukla stated.
“The group will also discuss with the legal specialists before coming up with suggestions since we do not wish any legal problems afterward,” he added.
The verdict to set up a working group was taken at the vital IPL Governing Council gathering that took place in Mumbai on July 19 where associates talked over the Lodha Group’s order, freezing Chennai Super Kings as well as Rajasthan Royals for 2 year period in the IPL.
Shukla stated that Sourav, who is also an associate of the IPL Governing committee, has been incorporated in the group as a diplomat of players.
