Stoke City vs Liverpool Premier League 2015 Predictions and Preview Who Will Win 09th Aug 2015
Stoke City and Liverpool played each other in the last fixture before the curtains were brought upon both their seasons. Here, they are coming face to face in the opening game of this season. The last encounter between the two was a memorable one for Stoke as they dominated the proceedings, winning the game with a massive scoreline of 6-1. Liverpool will be looking to make amends in the coming season and what better way to start, by wiping the slate clean with a thumping victory in the first fixture.
However, both the sides are pretty short-staffed due to injuries. Stoke will be missing their captain Ryan Shawcross as he undergoes a Back surgery, while Bojan would still be an uncertainty following his injury. To match them player to player, Liverpool also have three of their player injured; Daniel Sturridge, Joe Allen and Jon Flanagan. However, Liverpool have really put their head down this transfer window and got a lot of talent injected in their squad. It seems that most of these new signings will get their first team debuts, the opening weekend. Liverpool would be hoping that Christian Benteke finds the back of the net while other signings in James Milner, Nathaniel Clyne, Firmino shine too.
When asked about how he felt about the fixture, the Liverpool manager said
“For me it was the perfect fixture for us first up. I was happy that came out. We will certainly be better than we were last season. We lacked in everything that day. It was a unique game. We all knew it was unacceptable and whatever stick we got for it was deserved. Our first objective is to arrive in the top four. We’ll look to put up a greater fight than last season.”
Mark Hughes was also extremely positive about his chances this season and was very excited about the new signings. He elaborated on that saying
“We’ve managed to improve in each of the past two years and would love to do that again this time. The aim is to try to get into Europe. I like to set the bar high. Having worked with the new signings I must say that I have been even more surprised by their ability than I thought I would be.”
Stoke City vs Liverpool Predictions Who Will Win
In spite of Stoke taking the last encounter overwhelmingly, the encounter this year would be a lot closer. However with Stoke playing the host, they will have the home advantage. We feel it would end into a 1-1 draw.
Head to Head
In spite of the drubbing at the hands of Stoke in the last game of the 2014/15 season, Liverpool does look a dominant team. However, it might also be due to the rich history of the club. Out of 146 Liverpool have won almost half the encounters while Stoke could only manage 36 victories.
