Sussex in danger because of Gurney

Sussex in danger because of Gurney

Sussex is definitely having a hard time with injury of batsmen and bowlers, competitive countries who are threatening them to surpass them in the first division table and many other situations that really requires a hard day’s work. James Taylor and Chris Read struck a sixth wicket partnership where they were required to make 365 runs. While the two batsmen dampened the spirit of Sussex, Harry Gurney was the person who ignited the fire.  Gurney is a current out of favor one day player who dragged extra pace balls that bounced out of the pitch, and encouraged the batsmen of the opponent team to do well and think big. Gurney scored  five for in the first innings and also managed to grab three more wickets.

Mick Newell, Nottinghamshires coach initially thought that Gurney was a good bowler, as he is fast and aggressive and he was indeed a fear for the Sussex batsmen who thought big but could not do as desired. Gurney was a great bowler with serious pace whether it was in his left arm or his right. He is a consistent bowler who has continually been doing well. Sussex are also without five of their best pace bowlers namely Chris Jordan, Ajmal Shahzad, Jimmy Anyon, Tymal Mills, and Lewis Hatchett.Jordan is the only player who may play in the final third of the one day championship program. Ollie Robinson is one of the best batsman who is playing with a sore shin and a finger that was recently dislocated.

Sussex is really worried about its batting after the match of today where it was badly defeated. It hopelessly scored 157 for 4  and they also lost their last six wicket for 56 runs and did not stay till lunch. Matt Machan and Luke Wright scored 108 and 67 respectively but Sussex needed more than that to do well and it needed a good partnership so that more runs could be made. It was also a gloomy day as former England one day player Mike Yardy announced that he would like to retire at the end of this cricket season and the hosts were depressed because he was a promising player. The current skipper of Sussex, Ed Joyce scored seven championship hundreds in the last season but for this year he also seems to be in bad form with only an average of 66 this year as well as scoring no centuries and averaging below 30.

Sussex by the end was bowled out in 61 over for 254 and made 310 for 16 on the same day.
