Swansea City vs Newcastle United Premier League 2015 Predictions Who Will Win 15th Aug 2015
Swansea City pulled out the biggest upset of the opening weekend by keeping Chelsea at bay by ending the game with a draw. Garry Monk’s men went behind twice, only to pull it back before the end. Howe ver. One of them was a penalty, Chelsea who had the best defence in the premier league last season, seemed lacking he pace and couldn’t match with the Swansea strikers.
Garry Monk will like to keep the spirits high and would like to use the momentum in winning the second game of the season. He affirmed his thinking before the game saying
“That’s what I wanted [at Chelsea], to go out and set a standard of performance to take into the rest of season and use the confidence in other games. I think we achieved that. There’s things to work on but there were also things we’ve worked on that we saw in that game.
Each week is different and difficult but to reach those standards is what we’re aiming for. We defended well against an excellent side but we could use the ball better defensively. My job is to be picky and see the small faults and try and improve on them, but also the positives – which outweighed the negatives – and make sure we repeat them.”
They are against another team who did well and better than a lot of their supporter’s expectations. Newcastle held up the fort against Southampton, one of the most impressive outfit of 2014/15 season. Ronald Koeman’s men had to put in a goal 12 minutes before the final whistle to put the game level. Newcastle, who had to fight till the very end to escape from the dangers of relegation, stole a stunning draw against a Europa cup team.
Newcastle in spite of their impressive first game draw are without a win on the road since January, 2015. But the Swansea manager is not thinking on terms of form and records and will like his team to give it his all in order to leave nothing to chance. He said.
“We just played well in those games [against Newcastle in the past]. There’s no right to win any game and those statistics I don’t look at. It’s a different manager with a different approach and we have to be ready and focused and start well in our first game at home, where we want it to be a fortress.”
Swansea City vs Newcastle United Predictions Who Will Win
The fact that it’s Swansea at home and Newcastle away, is something that turns the tide in Swansea’s favour. As per our prediction, Swansea should take the game easily at 2-0.
Head to Head
In the few matches that they have played, Swansea City and Newcastle United have had almost equal share of victories, Newcastle a tad bit in the front. But the current Swansea City is far better and competitive than what they had in the past, so the head to head might not be able to make any significant indications.
