Tottenham vs Stoke Premier League 2015 Predictions Who Will Win 15th Aug 2015
Tottenham started the opening weekend of the premier league at Old Trafford, where they were beaten by Manchester United 1-0, where Kyle Walker’s own goal turned out to be the winner. Eve though the winning goal came of their own player, Spurs were a long shot away from being perfect at the back. The United forwards which have been criticized to death were able to get behind their defence line on a lot of occasions, however the Spurs were successful in avoiding shots on goals.
Spurs were good at pressing ahead and completely dominated the proceedings for first 20 odd minutes but could not keep up the pace for long. The Spurs manager, Mauricio Pochettino, will like to extend this time to as much as possible. The more they press the more they look dangerous.
However, Stoke City will be feeling triumphant with the arrival of their marquee signing Xherdan Shaqiri. Shaquiri has been a well known playmaker and will be an essential part in Stoke’s plans for Tottanham. Stoke manager Mark Hughes, was delighted at his new signing and said:
“We hope that Xherdan can make a huge impact in the Premier League. He has outstanding ability that we will benefit from. He’s a top player and we now have a host of top-quality players in our squad to change games and create something out of nothing. He certainly fits within that category.
We are trying to progress and you can only do that by getting the right quality of players in to enhance what we already have. We are hopeful of a good year and to have someone here of Xherdan’s undoubted ability is fantastic.
We have strength in depth, shown last year where we had a really good season despite a number of injuries. I think that we will need that again this year and if that gives me a headache over team selection then that can only be a good thing.”
He was also honest enough to accept the level of side Tottenham is and will be looking to play at their best to get some points out of this fixture. He said:
“Tottenham are a good side and were unfortunate, like ourselves, to not get something out of their game last week. We played exceptionally well there last year and deserved our win. If we can replicate that level then hopefully we will do that again.”
Pochettino however, would be glad that most of his side is now injury free, and would be looking to have his number 1 in place.
“I’m happy with Hugo Lloris [wrist] and Alex Pritchard [who had respective wrist and ankle problems] Last week Danny Rose had a little injury, but this week all players are fit. This is important for us, a problem for me but a good problem. It’s a shame I can only pick 18 players. ”
